Simon's Rock College Guide

Simon's Rock: A Pioneer in Early College Education Guide

Discover Simon's Rock, a unique and innovative liberal arts college nestled in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains. Founded on the principle of early college entrance, Simon's Rock offers academically gifted high school students the opportunity to begin their college education after the 10th or 11th grade. The campus itself is a blend of historic architecture and modern facilities, creating a vibrant and intellectually stimulating environment. Simon's Rock was founded in 1966 by Elisabeth Blodgett Hall, who envisioned a college that would challenge and nurture bright young minds. Hall believed that many students were ready for college-level work before the traditional age of 18. The college quickly gained recognition for its innovative approach to education, attracting students from across the country and around the world. Over the years, Simon's Rock has remained committed to its founding principles, providing a rigorous and personalized education to its students. While primarily an academic institution, Simon's Rock offers several opportunities for visitors. Attend a public lecture or performance on campus, explore the beautiful grounds, and admire the architecture. The college also hosts various events throughout the year that are open to the public. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition associated with Simon's Rock, the college dining hall offers a variety of options, and Great Barrington provides a diverse range of restaurants and cafes.
